The project main goals are:

  • The integral energy rehabilitation of the buildings within the district, including the thermal envelopes for both public buildings and residential buildings constructed between the 50’s and the 80’s, which have been built using inefficient construction systems.
  • The creation of a New District Heating Network supplied by biomass in order to supply the entire district. This New District Heating Network shall basically be comprised of a new heat generation plant and a new distribution network which shall provide heat to public and private buildings.
  • The renewal of the Old District Heating Systems which exists within the district. The purpose therefore is to improve the correct operating of this heating systems, which shall focus on the renewal and enhancement of the distribution networks, by means of the inclusion of energy saving measures, supported by the incorporation of regulation and control systems, which shall enable the reduction of energy consumption.
